The federal government is to establish six centres for the rehabilitation of victims of human trafficking. Women Affairs Minister, Rita Akpan told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Uyo that the centres would be located in Lagos, Benin, Kano, Uyo and two other cities yet to be named. Akpan explained that the centres, when completed, would serve as learning outfits where victims would be educated and provided with basic skills and employment. As part of plans to curb human trafficking, the National Assembly enacted the Child Rights Act for the FCT, she said.opportunities. The minister who described the problem of human trafficking as pandemic, noted that government had identified the sending, transit and receiving states and would soon put structures in place to eliminate the problem. |
