| Long Abstract: |
The Public Security Bureau in Huhhot city, the capital of north China’s Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, announced that they have uncovered a large-scale baby trafficking gang. The Bureau has arrested 95 people, including suspected leader, Ren Suyan, in connection with the illegal sale of at least 76 infants. The Xingdao Daily quoted Zhang Yi, Branch Chief of the Huhhot Public Security Bureau, saying, 'since 2003, the gang has illegally purchased infants from 28 local private clinics and hospitals, and traded them to accomplices of other provincial and urban districts. The infants ranged in age from only two hours to five days old'. |
