| Long Abstract: |
"Combating Human Trafficking in Asia: a Resource Guide to International and Regional Legal Instruments, Political Commitments and Recommended Practices" provides a comprehensive framework for using legal and other instruments to combat trafficking in persons, especially women and children. It seeks to potray trafficking as a multidimensional problem involving various forms of exploitation that occur within and across various conceptual dimensions, including human rights, slavery and slave-like practices, trafficking, migration, labour and gender. The Resource Guide also seeks to demonstrate the necessity for a multifaceted response to trafficking that utilizes the complete range of legal and other instruments relevant to all dimensions of trafficking. It is intended to promote awareness among governments, nongovernmental organizations and communities of the obligations and recommendations of the international and legal instruments, political committments and recommended practices for combating trafficking in persons in Asia. |
