| Long Abstract: |
The purpose of Norway's Plan of Action for Combatting Trafficking in Women and Children is to deal with the ethical, social and legal problems connected with trafficking in women and children. It sets forth the responsibilities of the Nowegian government to prevent women and children from recruitment, help curtail the demand that makes trafficking a profitable trade, strenghten legislation and give priority to the investigation of trafficking crimes so that those who would benefit from trafficking are caught and prosecuted. The action plan also details measures to be taken to ensure that women and children who are victims of trafficking are protected and given assistance. Furthermore, it summarizes Norway's obligations under international law and human rights principles to combatting the trafficking of women and children. |
