Long Abstract: Rag-pickers rally against child trafficking

Varanasi, April 4

A number of rag-pickers took out a rally to protest the incidents of child trafficking here in Varanasi on Tuesday. The processionists were of the view that rag-pickers were the soft target for those involved in child trafficking.

Under the banner of Vishal Bharat Shansthan, these minor children took out the rally from Shastri Nagar which after passing various localities culminated into a meeting at Azad Park.

President of local chapter of Indian Medical Association, Dr. Prem Shanker Pandey flagged off the rally. The rag-pickers were carrying placards conveying message such as ‘Stop Child Trafficking’, Don’t Sale Me’, ‘Maa Mujhe Mat Becho’ and ‘Baccho Ko Do Pura Adhikar, Band Karo Unka Vyapar’ etc.

President of Vishal Bharat Shansthan, Dr Rajeev Srivastava said, rag-pickers were soft target of those involved in child trafficking. Puja Singh, Priya, Najma Parveen, Najneen Ansari, Reshmina Parveen and Heena Kausar led the kids.

Akram, Aslam, Ashraf, Tasleema, Gulfsha, Neha, Mobin, Chandani and Neha were among rag-pickers who participated in the rally and denounced child-trafficking.
