Anti-human trafficking campaign visible in Finnish capital 21.10.2005 at 13:28
A poster campaign opposing human trafficking is spreading over Helsinki. The works of seventeen graphic artists and ADs take a stand against human trafficking, The posters are on display in exhibition spaces, underground stations and bus stops. The first exhibition is already complete in the Ruoholahti underground station. In November, the posters can also be seen in the Tennispalatsi outlet of the Helsinki City Art Museum in downtown Helsinki.
A number of award-winning young graphic designers were invited to the campaign to create posters against trafficking in humans, especially in women. The aim is to call attention to human trafficking, part of the sexual exploitation of women and girls, and to the demand for prostitution, which gives rise to human trafficking.
The poster campaign is part of a project by Unioni, the League of Finnish Feminists, implemented in collaboration with the Estonian organisation Living for Tomorrow. The US Embassy in Estonia finances the project.
