| Long Abstract: |
An Oslo court has sentenced a man from Georgia to 11 years in jail for kidnapping and trafficking. His younger brother was sentenced to four years. Another six men received sentences from five years to eight months. The eight men had been charged with holding two East European women as virtual slaves in an Oslo flat for nine months, forcing them into prostitution. The convictions are seen as historic. It is the first time in Norway that several men have been sentenced for trafficking, Aftenposten writes. The two women were awarded a total of more than NOK 1 million in damages and redress. |
